Dog Day Afternoon
20th September 2010
Why don’t people make films like these anymore? I’d never even heard of Dog Day Afternoon until a few days ago but finally watched it last night.
Based on an real bank robbery in Brooklyn, the entire film is shot around more or less one set, with no music except during the intro credits and they didn’t use any make-up. Can you imagine that happening in a film today? The acting was great (Al Pacino is amazing), the storyline was interesting and it’s just a really good film. This is seventies cinematography at it’s absolute best.
Any suggestions for similar films in the comments below please!

Skulls & Bones
3rd September 2010
I ♥ skulls. I think it’s a result of when we were in Mexico. Next week I think I’ll have a week of skulls…
This beautiful shot is by photographer Jay Harrison. The one underneath is a snap I took at Sculptures By The Sea in Bondi last year as well. Maybe I should’ve gone back at sunset…

Martín Satí GraphicWorkshop
2nd September 2010
Martín Satí is an amazingly talented illustrator and designer from Spain. His graphics are complex and beautiful and make me want to be a better designer.
I’d love to see what they’d look like lazer cut, like Claudia Ongaro mandala in yellow.

The Wilderness Downtown
2nd September 2010
The Wilderness Downtown is an interactive interpretation of Arcade Fire’s new song We Used to Wait.
Directed by Chris Milk this cool little film uses custom rendered Google maps, choreographed pop up windows and a beautiful flock of digital birds to create your own version of the music video. Add in your hometown, write a postcard to yourself back then and watch the letters grow. The wilderness will do the rest…
