Beached House
31st August 2011

This is my kind of beach house! Built by BKK architects and hidden somewhere on the Australian coast, they say that “Beached House continues BKK Architects interest in the curation of the domestic as a sequence of unfolding spaces that deny, and then release views.” Nice.

You Look Like The Right Type
31st August 2011

Every day Mark Addison Smith writes down pieces of conversations he hears and then illustrates them. He’s been doing it every day for the last two and a half years and posting them on his blog YouLookLikeTheRightType.com. Amazing.
I wonder what happens when he goes on holiday?

Google+ vs Twitter vs Facebook
30th August 2011

Guy Kawasaki tackles the question: To Google+ or not to Google+ with this rather nice infographic.

PostSecret
30th August 2011
My PostSecret book (from the lovely S!) is one of the few books I take with me when we move. Now they’ve made PostSecret app. Brilliant.
Geek Chic
29th August 2011

I know, I know, lots of Photojojo posts but they have so many fun things!
This JPEG necklace is cute, but not quite as awesome as my dork necklace from Lenko, one of the sweetest boutiques in all of Melbourne.
Words to live by…
29th August 2011

I love these letterpressed posters by Paper Jam Press.
I’d get ‘Today Was a Good Day’ framed and put it in our bedroom and ‘It’s Like a Jungle Sometimes’ could go in my studio.

The International Photography Awards
26th August 2011

Our amazingly talented neighbour Robin Hammond has just been announced as a finalist in the Deeper Perspective International Photography Awards.
His entry ‘CONDEMNED‘ focuses on mental illness in Uganda and as always his images are haunting but beautiful. Fingers crossed for him to win.
To Do
26th August 2011

I just found a set of To Do lists over at Mrs. Easton and I don’t really know what else to say except wow! They were made by her brother and there’s loads of them. I think they look like pieces of art.
Here’s a screenshot of my Teux Deux app by Swissmiss as a comparison. Hmmm…maybe I need to go back to the old school. It seems a whole lot more fun, don’t you think? (although I love Teux Deux and it’s super pretty as well…)
Hang it
26th August 2011

These paper clip hangers from the cool kids over at Photojojo are super cute, but does anyone else think $10 for 24 paperclips is a little much?
Lynnda Needles for Carolyn Massey
26th August 2011

The lovely Lynnda Needles has a whole new range of knitwear for Carolyn Massey’s Spring/Summer 2012 Collection.
I’m loving the red cardigan (above) and the cream jumper collection. Divine. Now if only I could get Si into a woolly cardi…
Birdie Light
26th August 2011

Love this Birdie Light by Kiel Mead. It’s sold on Steven Alan as part of The American Design Club (AmDC) which promotes and encourages young designers in the States.
Warphabet by Viktor Koen
25th August 2011

Warphabet is a series of alphabet prints by Greek designer Viktor Koen that reflect on the world’s hostilities.
He says “…these are not images about the beauty of weaponry, but a commentary on its uses, results, sale, and distribution. The use of arms and armor throughout covers a wide but random chronology of man killing man. Random, because it made no sense adhering to any kind of order when it comes to something so senseless.”
His first London show Viktorian. Alphabet, Steampunk, Weapons and Toys opens on 13th September at The Coningsby Gallery which I’ll try and see while we’re there next month.

24 LIVE
24th August 2011

So the PhotoBox 24 LIVE competition has just started. 1 photo an hour for 24 hours, with a new challenge every hour. I’m going to try my best to take 24 shots and if I do, I’ll post them all on here when it’s over.
Cross your fingers!

Baby Bunting
23rd August 2011

Si doesn’t like it and I keep trying to tell myself that it really is a bit too cheesy, but I just can’t help myself. I ❤ bunting!
Snap Happy
23rd August 2011

I can imagine these cute pieces being worn by my lovely photography friend Yael. I love the old school camera winder pin – it reminds me of my dad’s old Pentax.
Bon Iver. Holocene
22nd August 2011
I am in love with this song and video (made by Nabil Elderkin) for Bon Iver’s Holocene.
Could something be more beautiful? It makes me want to cry.

22nd August 2011

The new and improved BringMeJoy is finally live!

Kate Moss
19th August 2011
If Kate Moss became a bit of a bridezilla before her wedding day, then what hope is there for us normal girls?!
I’d love to see their wedding album shot by Mario Testino. I bet it’s amazing.
Anish Kapoor + Richie Hawtin
18th August 2011

Every year, Monumenta invites a world renowned artist to exhibit an installation in the great nave inside the Grand Palais in Paris.
This year the amazing Anish Kapoor installed Leviathan, a ginormous red chamber named after a Biblical sea monster – very cool. On 21st June my favourite DJ of all time, Richie Hawtin preformed in this space, through a creative partnership between The Creators Project and WeLoveArt – very cool indeed.
Check out The Creators Project video of Anish Kapoor and Richie Hawtin discussing how integrating music into a space can create a totally new artistic experience here.
I wish wish wish I’d been there to see that.
Change it!
18th August 2011

I think I’m a little late with this one, but I’ve only just seen Russian Interior Designer Amirko’s Change it! wall and I want one!
Such an awesome idea.
