My friends in London are saying it’s mild (14°C), my family in Hong Kong are saying it’s cold (8°C) and here in Cape Town we have sunshine and a predicted 26°C for Christmas Day!

Yay!

Wishing you all an awesome Christmas, wherever you are in the world!

Sigh. I spent a good 20 minutes looking through Cape Town based designer Jordan Metcalf‘s site this morning and I am completely in love with this lightbox he made for a group exhibition at Salon 91.

I want it on my wall. Please.

These stunning images were shot by German photographer Mario Gerth.

Surma is the collective name for the Suri, Mursi and Me’en groups that inhabit the southwestern part of Ethiopia and these images were taken this year over 2 weeks. Take a look at his gallery on flickr - each one is just as beautiful as the next.

The other day I discovered BLANK {space} – an sweet little store-cum-gallery that is literally on my doorstep. It’s tiny and hidden away behind big black grills, but inside it’s light and pretty and full of gorgeous letterpress stationary *sigh*, unique prints and limited edition works of art.

Another awesome Cape Town find. Yay!

I’ve been looking for inspiration for Si’s wedding cufflinks and came across these 30 in 1 Felt Cufflinks over on Etsy.

I was thinking more along the lines of little Mexican skulls, but these would be cool if he had to wear cufflinks a lot!

Kulma Shelf

corner shelf kulma martina carpelan Kulma Shelf

Kulma means corner in Finnish, which sums up this little shelf perfectly.

Designed by Martina Carpelan, she says “The idea is to utilize and highlight both the space within the shelf and the corner surrounding the shelf.”

Kulma can be used in either a positive or negative space and would work great in a small room.

Whenever I see new work by Pablo Alfieri I can’t help but sigh. It’s so beautiful and I’m always inspired by what he produces. His ideas are quite simple on the whole but he executes them in such a polished way. Colourful, bright and bold and usually with a little twist. Amazing.

Check out more of the Argentinian designer’s work on flickr.

Wonderland is a series of insect images by Israeli photographer Nadav Bagim (a.k.a AimishBoy). I love them. A Bug’s Life on acid.

They’re great examples of Bokeh Photography which is a cool style that reles solely on camera technique – no Photoshop at all. Crazy.

Have you ever seen a wall made up of keyboard keys? No? Well neither had I until now and how beautiful does it look?

Last night we went to watch The Art Of Flight which was being shown as part of the Wavescape 2011 Surf Film Festival. If you want a movie that literally takes your breath away, this is the one for you.

Just as good (if not better) than That’s It That’s All, Travis Rice and his RedBull/Quiksilver crew travel from Alaska to Patagonia in search of the perfect ride. Completely awe-inspiring, the most  stunning scenery and jaw-dropping snowboarding that will blow your mind, this is what life is all about.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be influx of stylus’ popping up all over the place?

A few weeks ago I wrote about Estylo, but today it’s all about Cosmonaut. Chunky but pretty, it’s marketed at everyone – from kids to the elderly – and is meant to be used more like a dry erase marker than a pen or pencil.

How long before an Apple iStylus is released I wonder?

Love this branding for an Australian Mexican Salsa company, Lady of the Dead. My favourite favourite skeletons.

Designed by Emma Brownson (an Aussie graphic designer no less!) I think it’s a cool take on Dia de los Muertos. The best thing though? After you finish munching your way through a jar of Salsa Verde, rinse it out and you’ve got yourself a fun backyard lantern.
