“Life is messy. Simplify with Clear.”
I’ve just been reading about a new To Do app called Clear. Don’t get me wrong, I love Teux Deux (the nifty little swissmiss To Do app) and use it on my computer all the time, but I never got around to sorting it out on my (very old and very slow) iPhone.
Clear looks even more simple than Teux Deux, and although some people are saying this app is before it’s time as it breaks a lot of current interface rules with no labels, icons or menus, for me it would be perfect. Just a bit long list in bright blocks of colour.

Found. (the company that Si works for) have just launched their new site and I think it looks rather cool. They’re a Digital Marketing Agency and very good at what they do (check out the looong list of awards!)
The best bit? Si on the homepage under ‘super-talented’ and the fun Meet the Team photos that were shot by the awesome Miss Yael Fachler.
Kama Sutra

Part of Penguin’s Graphic Classics series, where every classic re-edited is paired with an artist to produce collectable works, the cover of this new edition Kama Sutra has been illustrated by vector queen Malika Favre.
A playful, bold alphabet makes up the words Kama Sutra, while the colours are a nod to the books Indian origins. With original text by Vātsyāyana and no pictures inside, I think in this case you can definitely judge a book by it’s cover. Sexy.

Time is Nothing

Time is Nothing is not your usual timelapse.
17 Countries. 343 Days. 6237 Photographs. You’ll recognise a lot of the landmarks, and the landscapes are beautiful, but the cool thing is how much of the video is focused on people and how gorgeous the music is.
I loved seeing so many of the places we’ve been and it made me want to go to the ones we haven’t yet. Read more about Kien Lam’s travels here.
Definitely worth a watch.

If the awards are anything to go by (Best Indie Game of the Year, Best Soundtrack of the Year) and the creatures are as cute as the little guys on this wallpaper – I don’t think I’ll be doing much else this weekend!

I’ve just been checking out the redesign over on Fast Company’s Co.Design site. I love their big, shiny images and awesome typography and it’s interesting that they redesigned with their sidebar more in mind.
This is definitely something I want to explore with BTN next month with a full redesign as well. I think I need to make more use of the side panels and get some extra information in there. Stay tuned.

Oh Expletive! is a project by Safwat Saleem about “ass kicking and mayhem.” Unicorns, Zombies and 8-Bit creature fights – what more could you want?!
The Kickstarter project has already been fully backed and after asking for $3000 for screen print and t-shirt production costs, pledges so far have raised $22,655 which is incredible.

Homemade is Best

Ikea is one of my favourite shops in the whole world. I’m not ashamed to admit it and Si teases me about it all the time. When we moved to Cape Town and I realised we weren’t going to be able to stock the flat with things that had names like skårpt, klunsa and ribba I was sad!
However, to make up for my lack of Ikea over the last 2 years, I decided I’ll just have to buy their new cookbook Hembakat är Bäst (Homemade is Best). How awesome does it look!
Produced by ad agency Forsman & Bodenfors, photographed by Carl Kleiner and styled by Evelina Bratell, the beautiful images make me want to eat everything – including the ingredients before they’ve been cooked! Minimal cooking. I like.

Wow. I thought this shot of Audrey Hepburn by iconic British photographer Terry O’Neill was beautiful. Simple, sexy and so different from many of the portraits you usually see of her.

This weekend coming is Southern Ink Xposure, Cape Town’s 4th International Tattoo Convention.
I really like the Vintage Soviet inspired branding and advertising. Very cool but completely expected from people who ink skin for a living. Tattoo artists are usually a pretty talented bunch.

A few weeks ago I wrote about how beautiful Bobble Water Jugs were, but today it’s about how awesome the Bobble customer service is.
Si got a Bobble bottle for his birthday and we thought it was really cool, until the lid started to split for no apparent reason. It seemed so strange that I wrote to them and asked about it and you know what? They replied with a really nice email and sent us a replacement straight away.
Great customer service = customers for life. Thank you Bobble!
GreenZero Chargers

Eco-friendly chargers are nothing new, but I thought these GreenZero charges by Bracketron were particularly cool. Green for the home, black for travel.
They detect when your device is fully charged and in turn shut off the incoming power. Good for the environment, good for you.
