SOPA / PIPA
18th January 2012

Today Wikipedia, along with 4 other major sites including Reddit, Boing Boing, I Can Has Cheezburger and WordPress are going dark to protest against the SOPA (“Stop Online Piracy Act”) and PIPA (“Protect IP Act”) bills.
The idea that these bills could severely inhibit people’s access to online information and damage the use of free information on the internet is one to sit up and pay attention to. Major sites including Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, Twitter, eBay and Mozilla say that the proposed laws promote censorship, violate the First Amendment (Religion, Speech, Press, Assembly, Petition) and can harm the democratic flow of information. Try to imagine a world without free knowledge now.
