Nana x Pichulik

8th September 2014

On the 18th of August my Nana turned 90 years old. I can’t even imagine being 50, let alone 90.

For her birthday we sent her this Pichulik Brass Braid necklace. I thought if any 90 year old could pull off a necklace made of brass and yachting rope it would be Nana. She’s the second oldest person I know but still one of the most stylish.

I’m so happy we finally had an excuse to buy one of these local Cape Town necklaces, but more importantly that she loved it. Cool huh?

Deadwood Creative

10th December 2013

These colourful Skate Bangles by Aussie company Deadwood Creative are pretty rock and roll.

Every bangle is cut, sanded and finished by hand from a piece of wreaked skateboard, and the colours of each bangle depend on the brand and design of the board, making each piece unique.

Kimiaki Yaegashi

1st November 2013

This Magic Lamp t-shirt by Japanese illustrator Kimiaki Yaegashi is amazing.

Lady Lynn’s Car Boot

18th October 2013

If any of you London kids fancy picking up some unique car boot stuff tomorrow, head down to the Princess May School in Dalston between 8am – 3pm.

My lovely lady Lynn (of AMS and O NÓ fame) is going to be selling a tonne of amazing knitwear, vintage and antique bits and bobs that will need to find good homes.

Wish I could go!

18th October 2013

I love when I can post about neon and this one in particular is pretty awesome.

Neon is a Cornish based wetsuit company that lets you customise your suit in the colours you want.

A little bit hipster but so very cool, I can totally imagine them catching on here in Cape Town.

(Thanks Lynn x)

Michelle Williams x Louis Vuitton

30th July 2013

Behind the scenes with Michelle William’s for Louis Vuitton.

She’s beautiful.

3rd June 2013

On Saturday Si bought a pair of these Toms Cordones and because of the Toms One for One movement, buying them means a child somewhere in the world will benefit by also receiving a pair of Toms shoes.

I’m sure you’ve all heard the story, but if you haven’t you can read about it here.

And the next time you need a new pair of shoes, think about buying a pair of Toms.

Be Optimistic

29th May 2013

I love that Best Made Company finally put their Be Optimistic slogan on a t-shirt.

Words to live by.

24th May 2013

I’m pretty chuffed with my new Côte&Ciel laptop sleeve. This, inside my Wanderlust Tote makes up my new computer bag.

Way more fun that your average backpack, no?

LOVE – Spring/Summer 2013

15th May 2013

Wow, I do love a good magazine cover and how awesome are these 3 for LOVE Spring/Summer 2013?

Kate, Chloë and Cara look pretty damn fine in a bathtub, don’t you think?

A Bird In The Hand Ring

26th April 2013

Thought this Bird Ring by i am acrylic was rather fun.

15th April 2013

Finally, the new Cape Town Topshop is opening at the V&A Waterfront this Thursday.

Hope it’s good!

Design Indaba 2013

4th March 2013

I ended up popping into Design Indaba for a quick run around yesterday morning, and these were some of my favourite finds…

Farah Hernandez
I’m a sucker for succulents and the little guys potted in Sara Hernandez’s gorgeous ceramic hangings were absolutely divine.

Nina Du Plessis
These wooden geometric wall hooks were amazing … and very reasonable at R80 a hook.

Milame Design
Emma Atkinson’s ink drawings were cool and reminded me of one of my favourite prints by Supermundane.

Mona Pants
I completely fell in love with Simone le Roux’s creatures. She has some awesome illustrated characters on her Behance site, but the handmade dudes were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

The Tale of Balaclava Bear / Sootcookie
I’m always drawn to Tanya Laing’s work and last year I picked up a Sootcookie ceramic paper plane which I love. The Tale of Balaclava Bear is a collaboration between her and Alex Goldberg and although I’m not so into the bears themselves, I think the story behind them is awesome.

The simple elegance of Jeanine Benjamin’s bracelets and rings were lovely. Too bad she didn’t have that triangle bracelet at the expo because I would’ve bought it for sure.

Mervyn Gers Ceramics
Although this brand felt a little commercial (and have designed ranges for some big name restaurants and vineyards around Cape Town) I couldn’t help but fall in love with these African/Chinese plates. The dragon, rhino and machine gun combinations were beautiful and bizarre.

Concrete jewellery, lighting and bowls with some lovely angles.

Simple Intrique
I spotted this folded African map on some Design Indaba signage before going into the expo and it was even more beautiful in real life.

Design Indaba 2013

28th February 2013

Yes, it’s that time of year again folks, when the best of the South Africa design world come out to play at Design Indaba.

Like always I wish I had some spare cash to actually see some of the conference (Jessica Hische is speaking on Saturday) but I’m happy enough to pop down tomorrow to get inspired, and I’ll put a post together next week of all of my favourite finds.

Stay tuned!

Little Sloth

7th February 2013

I am absolutely 100% crazy in love with this Little Sloth Necklace.

Kate Moss / The Alphabetical Issue

5th February 2013

Over the years she’s graced 17 covers of i-D, including these four for The Alphabetical Issue (shot by Daniele + Iango) to kick off Spring 2013.

The ultimate über-model, Miss Moss nails it again.

Lalesso X Pichulik

5th February 2013

On Saturday at Neighbourgoods I discovered Pichulik, a handmade jewellery brand with pieces made from climbing rope.

Not only are Katherine-Mary’s jewellery designs awesome, she’s also done a collaboration with Lalesso to produce a range of bags and purses.

This gorgeous Jaali purse has gone straight onto my birthday wishlist.

Dinosaur Designs

1st February 2013

I just came across some awesome resin pieces at Tina Frey Designs and they reminded me of my necklace I put on this morning from Dinosaur Designs.

It clacks like bones when I walk and I don’t wear it often enough.

Agent Provocateur x Valentine’s Day

29th January 2013

I couldn’t help but laugh at Agent Provocateur’s Valentine’s ad featuring Poppy Delevingne. It’s a bit dumb, but Delevingne’s so sexy you can kind of overlook the silliness.

29th January 2013

On Saturday I very nearly bought myself some new Havaianas but decided at the last minute to be good and save some money.

And what do you know? My navy ones just broke.

I’m thinking black with white stars

For the last 3 days of the lil’sprout sale we’ve got 50% off all babygrows and tees! Woop!

All our products are 100% cotton and label free so they’re extra comfy – there’s rainbows and clouds, little snowflakes and lightning, raindrops and wind and sunshine, so hurry while we’ve still got some left!

17th January 2013

I saw my first Hellolulu bag when I was in Hong Kong at Christmas and fell in love with their simple but slick products. They come in an awesome selection of colours which totally adds to their cool too.

This Conn – Campus Backpack has a padded sleeve inside that’s the perfect size to carry a 15″ laptop. How tricky to choose a colour though! Blue with a green inside or purple with a blue inside?

Their funny little logo is also very cute and I’m digging the Happiness Manifesto on their website:

Happiness Manifesto – Chuck away unnecessary bulk and weight, add a dash of fresh color, a touch of delightful texture and sum it up with clever, creative designs, and you will get Hellolulu.

16th January 2013

I’m having a bit of a naked day – apologies if you’re at work.

Juergen Teller x Kate Moss.
