Blanka Biernat
17th June 2013

I’m so excited to share with you a print I’ve just received from London based illustrator Blanka Biernat.
Blanka illustrates custom prints for couples and families, and when I spotted her work a couple of months ago I knew I had to get her to draw us!
Rather than just get a normal picture of us, I decided to ask her to draw us from a fancy dress movie party we went to a few years ago, when Si went as Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing and I was Patricia Arquette in True Romance.
I absolutely LOVE our drawing.
Thank you Blanka! x
BringMeJoy / Moo
11th June 2013

I’m so excited to pick up my latest Moo Cards, although I’m a little miffed you still have to pay a £2.50 ‘delivery’ fee for collecting them yourself.
I’ll let you know when they’re available to buy!
Rainbow Mugs
10th June 2013

Design supremo Massimo Vignelli created these Rainbow Mugs in 1975 … and their colours are making me happy on a Monday in 2013.
Isn’t that cool.
The Chocolate Library
7th June 2013

Look what arrived in the post for me yesterday!
Personalised alphabet chocolate from The Chocolate Library. Love it!
Such a sweet thought from the gorgeous Cellandia.
Pop Plant
4th June 2013

I love these Pop Plant succulents.
I bought a similar one (moulded from the base of a coke bottle) when we were in Yzerfontein a couple of months ago.
DIY concrete planters are actually quite simple to make – so if you feel like getting crafty check out this great DIY Ceramic Tutorial over on DesignSponge. Then you can get painting, dip-dying, stencilling, spraying to your hearts content.
Toms
3rd June 2013

On Saturday Si bought a pair of these Toms Cordones and because of the Toms One for One movement, buying them means a child somewhere in the world will benefit by also receiving a pair of Toms shoes.
I’m sure you’ve all heard the story, but if you haven’t you can read about it here.
And the next time you need a new pair of shoes, think about buying a pair of Toms.
I’m Sorry
31st May 2013

This card was designed especially for me.
It’s awesome on a whole new level.
Truly Lovely Den Kit
30th May 2013

I spotted this Truly Lovely Den Kit when we were at the Eden Project a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a simple but genius idea.
The kit contains “everything a girl would need to build a den anywhere in the world…” including:
• a tarpaulin
• a fleecy blanket
• a groundsheet
• a handmade mallet
• tent pegs + a tent peg bag
• 15m rope
• instructions
All packed neatly into a cool little shoulder bag.
This would make an awesome gift for an adventurous little traveller and if you’re looking for a boy, check out the less flowery Kids Den Kit.
Be Optimistic
29th May 2013

I love that Best Made Company finally put their Be Optimistic slogan on a t-shirt.
Words to live by.
Meltdown
30th April 2013

German science magazine, GEOlino wanted it’s young readers to learn about the effects of global warming in a child-oriented way, and so they came up with Meltdown. The first board game that uses real ice.
With the aim of rescuing a polar bear family from the permanent ice floes to safety on the mainland, it’s a race against time as the ice melts. The Arctic is made up of blue sponge and is used as the game board, absorbing the melted ice at the same time.
What a brilliant idea.
(Thanks S! x)
Epiphanie
29th April 2013

The Charlotte bag by Epiphanie is very cool. Finally a camera bag that’s sexy but practical!
The padding inside looks great and it fits your camera + attached lens, 1 long lens, 1 short lens, chargers and a flash, while the pocket on the front flap can hold your wallet, phone and keys and the back pocket can hold an iPad.
Perfect.
Owl Love
29th April 2013

These owl lanterns are making me happy this morning.

Handpresso Auto
26th April 2013

Handpresso is an espresso maker for your car.
Yep, that’s right. Your car.
Plug it into the cigarette lighter, add water, a E.S.E. coffee pod, then press the button and wait for the 3 beeps to tell you your espresso is ready. With a 16 bar pressure system the espressos are bound to be tasty and the design itself is pretty slick.
Now if only they would make a milk heater + foamer for my latté…
Mrs Eliot Books
26th April 2013

Oh yes I am.
Loving this card collaboration series by London designer Mrs Eliot Books and photographer Xanthe Berkeley.
My First Year Poster
24th April 2013

Reading about the Redesigned Birth Certificate reminded me of this cool My First Year Poster I saw a while back on Etsy.
Cute huh?
Stamptastic
22nd April 2013

These acrylic stamps by Stamptastic are awesome because:
1. They’re clear which means they’re super easy to align.
2. The more you order the cheaper they become.
(Thanks Rosa)
Ice Cube Skull
16th April 2013

I love this little guy as well.
He’s not only cute, he’ll keep your drink cold too.
My Neighbor Totoro
16th April 2013

Oh yes! Please can I have this My Neighbor Totoro sleeping bag? I know it’s for babies, but I want one anyway.
The adult version comes in a sofa style bed, which is also super cool and I’d like one of those as well, please.
Genius.
A Long Forever
15th April 2013

So excited to see the guys over at Cats Let Nothing Darken Their Roar are now doing cards and custom prints.
A Long Forever Love is awesome.
Mat & May
15th April 2013

I discovered Mat & May last week and found some pretty cool bits and bobs in their store. Leather satchels and cute purses, as well as some sexy notebooks, cards and papers.
I love that these stationery-cum-nik-nak-cum-accessory style shops are having a revival. Aussie store Typo (at Canal Walk) is another great example and is perfect for finding fun little gifts in.
My Robot Nation
15th April 2013

Have you ever thought about making your own robot? I mean … not just any old robot, but the coolest and most awesome robot you could ever possibly imagine?
Well … now you can. Hooray!
My Robot Nation lets you design and create your very own robot which they 3D print and send to you. How amazing is that?
You can choose from 5 different size options, and from what I tell the possibilities are pretty much endless.
(Thanks S!)
Dark Star Safari
8th April 2013
I bought Dark Star Safari for Si for his birthday. He read it and loved it, and I just finished it and loved every single word.
I think Paul Theroux is my new hero. His overland trip from Cairo to Cape Town was inspiring, funny and eye-opening.
Next up Sunrise with Seamonsters.
Pantone Colour Flashcards
8th April 2013

These Pantone Colour Flash Cards are brilliant. 18 cards with 2 tones of each of the 9 basic colours including Lollipop Purple, Starfish Orange, and Grasshopper Green.
“Each card features a solid colour on one side, such as Duckling Yellow (Pantone 1215). When you flip the card over, additional colours in the same colour family (yellow) are introduced in the context of an illustrated pattern, so that a child can pick out which shade is Duckling Yellow.”
Never underestimate the importance of teaching kids about colour.
Cupookie
28th March 2013

Is this the coolest and most awesome Gingerbread skeleton ever?
Why yes, I do believe it is!
Check out more Cupookie cupcakes and cookies here.
(Thanks Sherm)
